The parliamentary sponsorship program for young working persons was started up 1983 as part of the youth exchange activities of the American president in co-operation with the German Bundestag. This program from cause of the 300-Jahr-Feier of the German immigration into the United States and the old friendship between the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany was created is to symbolize and retain. By the parliamentary sponsorship program our parliaments gave the possibility so far over 11.000 young Germans and Americans to close own transatlantic friendships.

This program is a bilateral exchange. 1998-99 80 German users will travel to America, while 60 Americans Germany will visit. The users will spend and at a gastfamilie will live, will study and will operate one year in their respective host country there. The parliamentary sponsorship program is financed by the American congress and the German Bundestag. In the United States the funds for the program become by those U.s. Administered and are to information Agency (USIA) for recognized Exchange organizations for the order. CDS international, Inc. and Carl Duisberg society e.V. co-operate in this program as partners.
